buck's baja adventure
this blog started out as a journal of my research trip to loreto, baja california but has evolved somewhat to include my time back home and the stuff i do when i'm not in the field
i study Mycteroperca rosacea, the leopard grouper, in baja california. i've been working on my current project since 2001. I hope this blog is at least entertaining, if not informative.
all of the pics you're going to see are MINE ALONE! so keep your dirty fingers off.

Are you kidding me?
My last post here was in April? Oh boy. Well, lots of stuff has happened but not all of it blogworthy. And the stuff that was blogworthy, well, I didn't have time for it and then well, it just seemed too late to post it.
In short:
• still working on my dissertation (shameface)
• spent January-May applying for jobs (interviewed for a couple - didn't get any, was very sad. temporarily).
• miraculously got a COOL JOB! so ran down to Loreto for vacation. still haven't posted those pics
• came back and started COOL JOB and love it (but finding dissertation writing challenging - shameface)
• was recently part of an article in the S.F. Chronicle on the COOL JOB I have now:

I moved 3,000 miles away from my friends and feel like I've lost my cooking mojo not having people to cook for. Mara said I should start a food blog and after I detailed how it really is hard to get up the desire to just cook for myself and then take pictures, she 'fessed up and said, so when I suggested you should blog about your food to help you, what I really should have said was blog your food for US - so we can see it and enjoy it from afar and try to replicate it. So here it is.
