this blog started out as a journal of my research trip to loreto, baja california but has evolved somewhat to include my time back home and the stuff i do when i'm not in the field
i study Mycteroperca rosacea, the leopard grouper, in baja california. i've been working on my current project since 2001. I hope this blog is at least entertaining, if not informative.

i'm looking at the calendar and realizing i have 60 days to find divers, buy supplies, make all the arrangements, get the van, pack the van and motor to mexico for five months.

I moved 3,000 miles away from my friends and feel like I've lost my cooking mojo not having people to cook for. Mara said I should start a food blog and after I detailed how it really is hard to get up the desire to just cook for myself and then take pictures, she 'fessed up and said, so when I suggested you should blog about your food to help you, what I really should have said was blog your food for US - so we can see it and enjoy it from afar and try to replicate it. So here it is.
